Kochi getting ready to host IPL matches

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has resumed renovation work at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, which will be hosting the home team's matches in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The focus is on modernising the venue and improving the drainage system.

"Effort is to provide a good drainage system, refurbish the stadium and replace the floodlights which would cost Rs 5-7 crore, KCA secretary T C Mathew said.

The work is expected to be completed by February 28. The first India-Australia ODI in October last year had to be abandoned due to poor drainage system at the venue.
